CATEGORIES AND DISTANCES:

 

Sprint:

1.1 Classes:

 1.1.1 Sprint Race Sled-dog (Friday – Sunday)

  - Open class (SPU) 24 km

  - 8-dog class (SP8) 16 km

  - 6-dog class (SP6) 12 km

  - 4-dog class (SP4 + SP4 Masstart) modified for Arena race model, see below

  - 4-dog junior class (SP4J), 8 km

         This class, reserved for junior - shall be run as a separate class according to the IFSS Race Rules, and Regulations.

 

 

The following modification in 4-dog Class (SP4) due to Arena race model

   Day 1 (Friday): SP4

      Two-day race with interval start the first day on standard trail distances.

   Day 2 (Saturday): SP4

      The second day of the two-day race with persuit start day two, depending on the        

      day 1 result. The first to cross the finish line will be awarded European Champion

      in the class.

   Day 3 (Sunday): SP4 Masstart

      Arena race with mass start on a short track with 2 laps. The first to cross the finish

      line will be awarded European Champion in the class.

 

Middle distance:

  - Unlimited classes (MD12) – within a pool of 14 dogs - 24+24 km

  - 6-dog class (MD6) – within a pool of 8 dogs - 21+21 km

  - Skijoring 1-2 dogs (MDS) – from 18 years - 21+21 km

 

Sprint Race Ski-dog:

 

 Day 1 (Friday)

   Skijoring 1-dog classes

   - Elite divided into men and women (SM1/SW1), distance 15 km

   - Juniors divided into men and women (SM1J/SW1J) 10 km

 

 Day 2 (Saturday)

   Combine competition in 1-dog classes modified for Arena model, a race with mass

   start on a short track with 2 laps. The first to cross the finish line will be awarded

   European Champion in the class.

   - Elite divided into men and women (CM/CW); distance 2x7,5 km

   - Juniors divided into men and women (CMJ/CWJ); distance 2x5 km

 

 Day 3 (Sunday)

Relay (R); distance 3x7,5 km, Mixed, 2 x skijoring 1-dog and SP4 the last round will be SP4 All classes are open for a limited number of teams from countries not represented in IFSS. Those teams will not be granted EC titles.

REGISTRATION:

The registration of qualified drivers, name and DID no., shall be received by the IFSS Europe Sport Committee on the entry form (see the IFSS Web site to download and use this form) on or before February3th 2018:

 

Also relay teams shall be registered on the entry form and paid according to this schedule. Individual names of the relay team members shall be provided to the Race Marshal at the Team Leader meeting on Saturday afternoon.

 

Quotas:

Quotas of athletes will be 3 + 3 RNB per class, per nation. There is no RNB relay class

Further places maybe be offered at a later date once the level of fulfilment of quotas by nations is known.

 

Nordic Breed

Registered Nordic Breed (RNB-teams) will have a separate result list if minimum 5 teams or more at the start of that particular class. Gold medal and EC-title (IFSS Registered Nordic Breed Champion) will be awarded to the best RNB-team if the time limit of 150% is fulfilled and that there are at least three countries represented with RNB-teams in the class. Silver and Bronze medals are also awarded.

Special rules in Middle distance classes

Unlimited class (MD12) a limit of 12 dogs out of a pool of 14 dogs

6 dog class (MD6) a limit of 6 dogs out of a pool of 8 dogs

Skijoring 1-2 dogs (MDS) A limit of 2 dogs out of a pool of 3 dogs

 

Mandatory equipment in middle distance classes:

A second snow hook for the unlimited class

4 booties per dog (either in the sled or in use) one extra harness, one gangline, one

    pulling line and one neckline shall be in the mushers sled. Mobile phone in pocket is

    recommended

An adequate braking pad (drag) as per race rule IFSS RR 41.2.2 for all Nome style classes.

 

Mandatory equipment in sprint classes:

  A second snow hook for the unlimited class and the 8 dog class in sprint

 An adequate braking pad (drag) as per race rule IFSS RR 41.2.2 for all sled classes.

 

 

Doping tests for drivers and dogs may be performed.

All dogs participating shall be identified by micro chip before their arrival at the race site and shall be listed on the chipping form.

 

It is strictly forbidden to let dogs run loose at the stake out- & parking area during the event.

All participating nations shall appoint one team leader for the sprint championships. The team leaders shall be noted on the entry forms. Team leaders shall be present at the team leader meetings, in view of their liaison task between the race organizer and their team members.

 

ANIMAL WELFARE:

Participants shall meet the applicable requirements as per the IFSS RR Part VI.
