I have been properly involved in canicross for around 5 years following the arrival of my first GSD Harry, in 2013 (I now have Frankie too). I then went on to set up the clothing business Pupmalup, paving the way for a lot of interaction with various ‘canisports’ clubs. This allowed me to set up our first multisport event, Chicksands Chase in 2014. Alongside this, I have been Chair for Wessex Canicross and I’ve subsequently been on the committee for a further two seasons.
My primary background is in sailing and I specialised in the disabled side of the sport, focusing on inclusion, equality and always “finding a way!”. This has lead me to where I am now and I’m looking forward to using my existing skills to further develop sled dog sports as a whole.
My time on the committee of Wessex Canicross has allowed me to highlight a number of improvements we could make to the sport, in terms of awareness and participation. We recently ran the training event Wooftastic Weekender and I’m hoping that experience will aid me in my role as VP Development.
I’ve been fortunate enough to compete in a number of races and series from 5k through to half marathon and managed to get my ECF debut in Italy 2017. Now looking forward to the upcoming season, ICF in Poland and continuing to enjoy a part of the sport we all love
