The race venue is approximately 11 hour’s drive from Eurotunnel using Toll roads.  There may be a requirement for a Swiss vignette on certain routes.


Disciplines: Canicross, Bikejor, Scooter (all disciplines are for one dog only)


Cost per entry

Adults/Juniors £60 for 1st Discipline and £30 for a second discipline (same athlete) 

Children £40 per discipline (This includes exchange rate, bank charges and booking fee)

The price includes a meal on Saturday for the athlete and and an extra meal for a guest that night can be bought with your entry at £15 per guest.

Their original message is below:


"The vets that will be present during the European Championship in Santa Maria Maggiore have prepared the enclosed documents with all the information about the anti-doping policy and the tests they will perform. Please send this information to all competitors and tell them to contact their vet or the vets of the organization ([email protected]) if they have any doubts about medication or treatments (also food and supplements) that their dogs have received in the weeks/months before the championship. If a dog tests positive the costs of the test (293 euro) will have to be paid by the competitor."



Anyone wishing to enter & race at the ECF Championships must have current BSSF membership at the time of the event & ALL entries must be submitted through the BSSF. 

Any new members wishing to enter the ECF Championships can apply for BSSF membership now & their membership will be valid until 31 August 2018.

Free stakeout on hard standing with limited options to park next to grass verges.

Toilets, showers & wifi will be available on site.

Electric hook up is available outside of the stakeout area at an extra cost of 10 euros per night & is bookable and payable at the venue. (For details please see:

Course description:

Long course: 6km

Short course: 2.7km

Juniors & relay: 1.6km


First part of the course will be through fields with turns, there will be a narrow bridge crossing which will be clearly marked.


Second part is technical section with trees, hills, sweeping downhills and there is a small section of smooth tarmac, roads will be closed.


Third section joins the Short course and Junior course, through woods and back onto the grass with turns.

Course markers: 

Markers will be Blue for the course, Red will indicate a turn on same side as turn and Yellow indicates caution.


Relay team:

Proposal by race organisers to have a mix of disciplines, canicross, scooter & bike.

Details TBC nearer the event.

Team Leader will organise teams on site. (The first team will be entered for free but subsequent teams will be charged 10euros per team)



Individual: 1 minute intervals for bike & scooter both days.  Sunday starts will be scratch.

Canicross: Saturday individual starts, Sunday wave starts of a maximum of 10 athletes per wave.


Course Inspection:

The course will be open for inspection with dogs for limited time slots on Thursday & Friday.  Exact timings will be published nearer the time.

Competitors may ride, walk or scoot the course with their dogs at the allocated times. This at your own risk as no marshals will be on the course & care must be taken at all time. 

This is subject to weather conditions & abuse of this allowance will result in the course being closed to all. 


Compulsory canine vaccinations:

Mandatory: Rabies & Kennel cough which MUST be administered 3 weeks before vet check. 

Either nasal or vaccination of Kennel cough will be accepted.

Vet service on site:

6 English speaking vets providing 24 hour cover throughout the event.

Vets will be completing pet passports for return to U.K. Team Leader to coordinate.

Thorough vet checks will be undertaken prior to competition.


Team kit: Options will be made available on the BSSF website and details for ordering will be emailed to all current BSSF members.  All members are encouraged to race in BSSF team kit to promote team spirit and to embrace and celebrate our Nationality.
